Kitchen Updates

This weekend we worked on painting and putting up open shelving in the kitchen, well really it was all done on Sunday believe it or not.
We were only going to take down the old cabinet box that I took the doors off a while ago and put up some open shelves......... well it turned into a bigger project so we painted while we had the mess. It needed to get done anyways but we had no idea it was going to be this past weekend. LOL See things seem to happen like that around here, last minutes things that seem simple turn into a project.

This is what I had before.........

We took that down.....

Made wall repairs.......

Then painted....... of course hubby made the new shelves and now we have THIS.....

I just love how the open shelves opened up our small kitchen even more. Also the added light color helped as well. Now the color is the same that we have in our living room that we just painted in Nov.  I loved that green, still do but part of me is really glad it is gone.

The molding on the right side of the shelves still needs to get done as hubby has to make something for it that will match the other side molding.

We also added the bead board to the bar area making it easier to keep clean with the kids and all. Really shows off the Mahogany bar that my hubby made a while ago.

I do have to say that I am so truly blessed to have a hubby as handy and creative as mine is, we would never be able to afford all these changes if we had to pay someone to do them for us.

Tonight we are working on getting up our coffee bar shelves, this way we can keep it all in one area of the kitchen.  Right now the coffee pot is kind of lost.......

I am still unsure what to do with the space over the kitchen table.......

I guess I will put back my iron thing but I was also thinking about my old window that might look good hung on the wall. Just not sure yet, stay tuned I am sure it will happen soon. LOL You can always follow me on my INSTAGRAM to see what I am up to on any given day. LOL

Well thanks for stopping in to see my current updates, I will post more pics once the coffee area is done. I am hoping soon I can get more house tour pics once the weather gets back to being sunny.

I hope you all have a blessed day..... Leave me a comment and let me know what you have been working on lately? I would really love to hear from you all. :-)

  9. Hi! Just found you through the Inspiration Exchange Link Party and am your newest follower! Open Shelves are the next kitchen project on my list. I love the thickness of your new shelves - definitely shooting for the same look. What kind of wood did you use?

  10. Thank you so much for your kind words and for stopping in today. The wood we used was just building lumber (Spruce, Douglas Fir) and it has one coat of bright white paint on it. I wanted to see the wood grain through so I only put one coat of paint. Thanks again and have a great week.

  19. Yes I am so loving it and the coffee bar is done though I do need to make a small coffee sign for it now. The area is very small so it is not very fancy but the shelving does tie into the other. Thanks again for stopping by, have a great week. :-)

  25. You are very welcome, thank you for stopping by. The wall color is SW Inner Balance, I just love the color and it does not have to much yellow in the tint so I am glad for that.

  37. I love your kitchen and the color is beautiful! The coffee bar is a great idea. Have you thought about painting a chalkboard square above your dining table and maybe listing the menu?.....just a thought.....can't wait to see what you come up with.....everything is beautiful!

  38. You know I really did think about the chalk board idea as I just love the chalk board walls but I did not want all the chalk dust around my table. I know from my daughters room it can get all over the place. LOL Thanks so much for stopping by, have a great day.
